Beginning to Stay Home Alone

with American Red Cross

Beginning to Stay Home Alone is designed to teach 8-11 year olds what questions to discuss with their parents to determine what activities are safe and permitted when they begin to stay home alone for short periods. Students also learn how to handle an emergency, such as a fire, when and how to call 911, and basic first aid. Designed by Maine Safety Education, this course has been praised by parents as excellent preparation for this important step in a child’s life.
